Arising from a highly successful 7th Anniversary Lecture of the globally renowned PENPUSHING Media held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta which had in attendance a diverse range of technocrats, politicians, celebrated media professionals and traditional rulers amongst others.
The topical issue- Reworking Nigeria’s Federalism, Perspectives on Restructuring and Fiscal Federalism, set the tone for a robust discourse as led by the Keynote Speaker, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, founder, Human Capital Africa.
The discourse no doubt enriched the guests as panellists notably-Eddy Aina, Honourable Adijat Adeleye, CP Fatai Owoseni and Professor Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika diagnosed the causal factors militating against true Federalism with Honourable Remmy Hazzan moderating.
While the event was ongoing, the founder, Penpushing Media was cornered and he excitedly poured out his heartfelt appreciation on the epochal event, thus expressing satisfaction with the turnout by the cream-de-la-cream in the nation.
Prince Dimeji had this to say:
“Thank you very much, I would say I feel great. Actually, this won’t be the first time we have had such a great assembly of eminent personalities. Honestly, I nonetheless appreciate those who had to travel from far and wide to physically grace and support PenPushing at this crucial moment.
And there is one lesson I have learnt about all the sacrifices and commitment of the people in attendance, it has to do with the character, integrity and professional competencies of the board of directors in the discharge of authentic news reporting.
As rightly expressed, our steadfastness and commitment to ensuring that incidences of fake news are curtailed, and this has earned Penpushing great admirers and accolades.
We abhor unethical journalistic practices and this virtue is inculcated in the minds of our trainees to sustain the future of journalism. I want to thank God because the journey started like a child’s play seven years ago. We never knew we would go this far. As God would have it, and with the support of all particularly, the iconic personalities in the field of journalism; we have been able to weather the storm.
We are eager to improve and here we are today, we will continue to improve. Just as the Father of the day – Chief (Dr.) Joju Fadairo, the fiwagbayi of Egbaland mentioned, we started from a kiosk. He was very right and today we have a very befitting corporate headquarters here in Abeokuta.
Added to my joy is the fact that Penpushing Media was established in Abeokuta, the town where Journalism started in 1859.
Penpushing online is the first online newspaper to start operation in Abeokuta. That is another added feather for us.
In all, we will continue to work hard, give glory to our Lord and we will always appreciate every person who has been standing behind this project”
The celebration witnessed quality attendance, media coverage and had the distinguished presence of Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola as Chairman, Oba Abdul-Rasaq Adesina Adenugba, Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye and Olowu of Owu , Oba Prof Saka Matemilola as royal fathers while Princess (Dr.) Ronke Ogunremi, the Mother of the Day.
The event also had in attendance notable personalities, business magnates and others.
