Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations has bagged the Best Diamond Anniversary Engagement Award, at the just concluded Nigerian Public Relations Week, an Annual General Meeting (AGM) and conference of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), held at Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Presenting the award, NIPR President and Chairman of Council, Dr. Ike Neliaku, said it was in recognition and appreciation of the Ogun Chapter’s outstanding performance during the Institute’s Diamond celebration last year. The award, which was received by the Chapter’s Chairman, Mrs Oluwaseun Boye, marked a watershed in the accomplishments of the present administration and members of the Chapter.
A posthumous award was also given to the late Towulade of Akinale, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, for his unwavering feats and contributions to the development of the Institute during his life time.
The AGM equally witnessed the induction of Mr. Niyi Oduwole, and Mrs Taiwo Akintomide from Ogun State Chapter as Fellows of the Institute.Other categories of awards were received by deserving chapters and individual members as well investiture of the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, as the Patron of the Institute in Akwa Ibom State.
Icing on the cake was the re-election of a former Chairman of the Chapter, Mr Tope Adaramola, as a Member of the Council, while Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura and Dr. Ike Neliaku also returned as Vice President/Vice Chairman of Council and President/Chairman of Council, respectively.
In his keynote address, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Oladele Henry Alake, challenged delegates to be courageous in conceptualizing and implementing policies that would engender positive change. He charged them further to develop the attitude of resilience, patience and consistency as their contribution to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in his mission to reform the country.
