FUNAAB’s Spokesperson Takes Helm as Chairman of GCIOBA ’91 January Set

The global community of the Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association (GCIOBA), one of Nigeria’s most iconic and heritage-rich secondary school alumni, entered a new era of leadership on Saturday, December 13, 2025, as the 1991 January Class Set inaugurated its newly elected Executive Council led by the celebrated Spokesperson of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide at the historic GCI School Grounds in Ibadan.

Widely acclaimed for transforming FUNAAB’s public image and delivering unprecedented visibility through strategic communication, Mr. Olajide is a figure whose professional excellence has captured national and international attention.

Over the years, Mr. Olajide has distinguished himself as one of Nigeria’s leading institutional communicators deploying his unmatched PR acumen, clarity of messaging, and creative engagement strategies to elevate FUNAAB’s reputation across Africa and the global academic community. His tenure has been marked by heightened media presence, strengthened stakeholder relations, and a renewed public appreciation of the University’s innovations and achievements.

Now stepping into alumni leadership, he is expected to bring the same transformative energy to a vibrant, multinational network of over 300 Old Boys spread across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada and the United States.

Other members of the 2026 Executive Council comprise: Abiola Adeniyi – Vice Chairman; Mayowa Akingbohungbe – Secretary; Alex Egbuche – Assistant General Secretary and Rotimi Wusu – Public Relations Officer.Looking ahead, expectations are high.

The 1991 January Set anticipates a year defined by deeper global engagement, reinvigorated alumni participation, and impactful community-driven projects, hallmarks of GCI’s enduring legacy of excellence, leadership, and service.
