Members of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Ogun State Chapter, have welcomed athletes, officials and tourists attending the 22nd National Sports Festival tagged: 2024 Gateway Games being hosted for 15 days by Ogun State.
In a release signed by the State Chairman of the Association, Dr. Chris Omotosho, the visitors were urged to savour the rich culture, sumptuous cuisines and visit tourist attractions like Olumo Rock, Ake Palace Museum, Cultural Centre, Golf Club and the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library amongst others.
He described the National Sports Festival as a forum for deepening unity in the country and expressed the hope that the goal will be achieved during the Games.
“Make sure you take a piece of Ogun State with you by purchasing mementoes like local adire fabric, visual arts as well as local snacks like “kokoro” made from maize, “adun” and “robo” produced from melon amongst many others”, Dr. Omotosho added.
He commended the Ogun State Government for constructing world class sporting facilities for the Games and putting in place robust maintenance strategies to make the facilities durable.
The ANA Chairman charged writers, poets, essayists and novelists to avail themselves of the wonderful opportunities for contents and sales of their books and publications whilst urging the creative industry to support the Games.
