Crescent University, Abeokuta has graduated 718 students who bagged various degrees while 117 students got the Masters’ degrees at the 17th Convocation held on Saturday.
Giving a breakdown of the 2024/2025 graduands, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, urged the graduands to “try and try again to excel in every part of life to the best of their abilities” adding that as Crescent ambassador they had been equipped with education of integrity and moral excellence that will guide them to inspire people.
The Vice Chancellor promised to continue to expand the University’s academic activities both horizontally and vertically.
He appealed to public spirited individuals, philanthropists and organisations to support the University with generous endowments.
Speaking earlier, the University’s Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, lauded the contributions of private universities to the development of the country and substantially closing the gap of admission seeking youths and called on federal, state and local governments to grant tax waivers to private universities and let them enjoy support from TETFUND educational grants.
Three iconic Nigerians including Professor Ahmed Bin Salawudeen, DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo and Chief Kola Karim were conferred with Honorary Doctorate Degrees in Business Administration and Political Science and International Studies.
Welcoming guests earlier, the Proprietor of Crescent University, Prince Ma’ruf Adesegun Ajibola, SAN, expressed delight that in the 30 months of his being in charge of the University, spectacular achievements had been recorded including a Computer-Based Test Centre, diversification of sources of water and electricity as well as ventures like Fisheries, Adire making and Bakery.
On infrastructural development, Prince Ajibola said “…by this time next year, this University would have attained such growth and expansion to the envy and delight of all. We therefore invite partnership, encouragement and support in attaining these aims and objectives.
