I returned to the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos on the 22/4/25— not only as an alumnus, but as a custodian of Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
I had donated this bronze statue, titled: “Culture and Justice” to this great institution since 2015. However, yesterday, I had the privilege of re-unveiling it after its enhancement and inscription of the full meaning and description of the statue on one side of its pedestal.
To further celebrate it all, I also presented a painting of the sculpture to the Dean’s office of the Law Faculty — to inspire future Dean’s and lecturers of the Faculty to emphasise the existing presence of justice in Nigeria’s indigenous culture.
I am grateful to Prof Abiola Sanni [ the current Dean of the Faculty for inviting me to commission this refurbishment and to Dr Adeola Balogun and his team for the work done. I am also grateful to Samson Ogundeji, who did a painting of the refurbished statue that I also donated at this event for display in the Dean’s office.
